At about 1am on Sunday, some suspected remnants of the Boko Haram fighters attacked Nigerian soldiers’ location at Logomani along Dikwa-Gambarou Road in Borno State.
Described as a three waves attack, the Boko Haram terrorists used 36 Hand Grenades and Rocket Propelled Launchers.
A statement by the Nigerian Army on Sunday said the troops fought gallantly and repelled the attack, which lasted for about one hour.
At the end of the fierce encounter, the troops counted 22 dead bodies of Boko Haram fighters.
They also recovered two AK-47 Rifles, one FN Rifle, one G3 Rifle and some 36 Hand grenades.
Unfortunately, four soldiers died.
The rifles of the soldiers were also lost to the terrorists.
The Army explained that the soldiers and rifles were lost as a result of the effect of the Boko Haram’s use of Rocket Propelled Grenades.
Tow soldiers were also wounded in action.
The wounded in action have been evacuated for further medical management.
The Nigerian Army explained that the location has been reinforced and replenished, while the troops have continued their clearance operations.
