Juventus player, Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he is not going to feed the media anymore information concerning a rape allegation against him.
Ronaldo has been accused of raping a 34-year old woman, Kathryn Mayorga of Las Vegas in 2009.
Mayorga alleges that she was pressured into signing a nondisclosure agreement to keep mum about the rape. She is now seeking no less than $200,000 in penalties and damages.
Reacting to the allegations, Ronaldo slammed the media whom he says are out to promote themselves at his own expense.
”I will look forward to the outcome of any investigations and processes, because nothing weighs on my conscience.”
”I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.”
”My clear conscious will thereby allow me to await with tranquility the results of any and all investigations.”
Ronaldo: I’m not going to feed the media concerning rape allegation
According to Mayorga, she met Ronaldo on the evening of 12 June 2009 at the Rain Nightclub in the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The star player invited her to join guests in a hot tub but she declined because she did not have a bathing suit.
Ronaldo however offered her clothing and followed her into a bathroom where he demanded she perform oral sex. When she rejected his advance, the suit claims Ronaldo pulled her into a bedroom and anally raped her while she screamed ‘no, no, no’.
Shortly after the statement from the police on Tuesday, Ronaldo took to Instagram to label the allegations as ‘fake news’.
During a live chat with fans he said: ‘What they said today, fake – fake news.’
The post has since been deleted.
In a statement released, his lawyer Christian Schertz, said he would seek legal redress for his client from the magazine that published the allegation.
