Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has been tipped to take over at Real Madrid with Julen Lopetegui facing imminent sack.
Lopetegui is reported to have just one game left before he’s shown the exit door, and the game is an el classico clash with Barcelona.
Real Madrid has played five-games without a win included a 481-minute run without a goal – the longest barren patch in the club’s entire 116-year history.
Suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Levante on Saturday, that appears as the breaking point for the manager.
Since taking over from Zinedine Zidane, Lopetegui has had a difficult period with the Los Blancos. Part of the problem includes not having a goal threat since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club for Juventus. The Spanish Giants have also opted not to replace the Portuguese superstar.
Mourinho wanted as Real Madrid prepare to sack Lopetegui
It is widely reported that Lopetegui will be slammed with the axe if he gets defeated by Barcelona in his first el classico encounter. The match will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
Should he emerge victorious, club’s president Florentino Perez will swing the axe in the aftermath of their European contest.
Former Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has also been tipped to take over at the Bernabeu, but Pedrerol explained that Madrid are willing to wait to seal a Mourinho return. The current United tactician won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup in three years at the club.
He said on El Chiringuito TV: “Lopetegui will coach Madrid this Tuesday and it all points towards him not doing so at the Camp Nou.
“Mourinho is the favourite for the board and the club is thinking about appointing Solari until Mourinho is free to return to the Spanish capital. Solari would be a temporary option.”
