International Committee of the Red Cross raise alarm following the abduction of 3 young nurses working with them: one feared dead

The President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, has requested for the intervention of the Nigerian government following the abduction of three young female nurses working with them. One of them has reportedly been killed while the other two’s lives are at risk.

According to Mr Maurer, a  24-year-old midwife named Hauwa (pictured above) along side two others – Saifura (midwife) and Alice (nurse) were abducted since March. All three women dedicated their lives to helping others in northern Nigeria.

It is reported that Saifura was brutally executed by their abductors two weeks ago, while Hauwa and Alice who are still alive, risk being killed too. It is said that Hauwa could be executed in a few hours if help doesn’t come to them.

Peter Maurer is appealing to the Nigerian government to intervene and see that the women are released soon.
