Presidential aspirant, Eunice Atuejide has slammed renowned author and feminist, Chimamanda Adichie, with claims that she is an extremist who is misleading young girls.
Chimamanda has been of recent making feminist points at every opportunity she gets to speak. Just last week, she said she is not in support of bride price which is a tradition in Africa.
She also spoke against people using the Bible to support their stance against gender equality. According to her, the way Jesus treated women should be a symbol for gender equality.
All of these and more didn’t sit well with Eunice Atuejide who is running for president on the platform of National Interest Party.
In an interview with leader of the Free nation, Daddy Freeze, on Cool FM, Eunice said, “I think she is an extremist, sometimes I do think she’s misleading a lot of our girls.
There are sometimes. very few times when I agree with her, but most of the times I’m like ‘Oh my God’, I hope our women do not necessarily take home too much of the things she say, because some of them could turn around and bite them in the bum”
Read Chimamanda’s comment about how Jesus treated women in the Bible:
Jesus came from a society that was very patriarchal. The Jewish people at that time did not give any regard to women, like many cultures all over the world.
Jesus came, and suddenly Jesus is treating women as though they’re his equals. Jesus is talking to women. And the old-fashioned Jewish people were scandalized. Because they were like, how can you be giving women this kind of honor. But Jesus is making a point there.
When Jesus rises from the dead, the central message of Christianity is that Christ has risen. That’s the central message. That’s why Easter is really the most important part of Christianity.
When Christ first rises, who gets the message that he has risen?”
