Details about what caused the death of Efemena Okedi, wife of late legendary singer, Ras Kimono, has emerged.

According to a family member who was contacted, Efemena died in the early hours of yesterday at her home in Lagos after complaining of chest pain.

”Efe went for an event on Saturday September 22nd and returned home complaining of chest pain. The pain lingered till the next morning. She slumped and died in the house before she could be rushed to the hospital” the family member said.

Efemena’s death is coming just three weeks after returning from the burial of her husband who died in a Lagos hospital after a brief illness.

Before Ras Kimono died, he was a vegetarian for over 37 years and neither smoked nor drunk alcohol.

In a statement with reporters, He said, “I have never smoked and I don’t drink alcohol. I tell people I have been a vegetarian for 37 years. Even when my friends were having sex with two girls at the same time in those days, I didn’t join them. I have never done what these girls and boys call threesome despite being famous and I am sure there are other people who have never done that too.

“When people attribute recklessness to youthful exuberance, I get worried because I once passed through that stage too. I believe it is all about your upbringing. The fact that you are young doesn’t mean you should be wayward.”

Among those who mourned his death were controversial senator, Dino Melaye, and popular singer, Sound Sultan.
