President Muhammadu Buhari request to borrow $30bn has just been rejected by the Upper chamber of the National assembly.

Last week the President wrote to the Senate requesting their consent to embark on an external borrowing plan of $30bn for 2016-2018.

It appears the Senators may have heard the outcry of Nigerians as the Senators overwhelmingly voted against the Plan by the government. The matter was moved for deliberation by the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, then senator representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye sought to lead debate on the matter, but was turned down by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki who subjected the matter to a voice vote’ and as it turned out the ”Nays” carried the day.
