Jimoh Ibrahim Joins race for Ondo state Governor, Picks form from Modu-sheriff camp

Controversial  businessman, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with the sole aim of seeking the party’s ticket to contest the 2016 November governorship election in Ondo State.

Barr Jimoh Ibrahim on Thursday officially joined the governorship race in Ondo State by picking a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination form.

Ibrahim, 49, became the first aspirant in the race to succeed Olusegun Mimiko after picking a form from the factional National Chairman of the party, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff.

He defended his decision to pick the form from the Modu-Sheriff faction, claiming the Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has no locus in law to lay claim to the office.

Ibrahim, whose multi-million dollar Global Fleet Group controls business interests in West Africa and beyond, promised to better the lots of workers in the state within 100 days and ensure prompt payments in the future.

The OAU trained lawyer, who claims to have over 8000 workers in his employment, derided governors who owe workers’ salary as unimaginative, while assuring the people that he would tap into the abundant solid minerals in the state for development.

“I will restructure the state in the area of capacity building, good innovation and by putting the right thing in the right place at the right time,” he said.

“I will pay the workers within the first day of my 100 days in office.

“Non-payment of salaries by state government is the failure of innovation of states by governors.

“It is when you are innovative that you will be able to pay salaries. Those (governors) who are owing are not efficient. I’m not owing any of my workers.”

In his response, Sheriff described him (Jimoh Ibrahim) as a capable hand that could lift the state to greater heights and assured him of his support.
